It probably won&#8217;t be on the road till 2013.<\/p>\n<p>In 2011, according to the filing, the company will stop making the Roadster. That leaves a two year gap where Tesla will not be making any cars.<\/p>\n<p>From the s1: &#8220;We may generate limited, if any, revenue from selling electric vehicles after 2011 until the launch of the planned Model S.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>If the production of the Model S hits bumps, which is possible according to the filing, then Tesla could go longer with out making any cars.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe it&#8217;s all for the best. The filing indicates it&#8217;s not making money on the $109,000 Roadster. It appears all the profit comes from selling Zero Emission Vehicle credits.<\/p>\n<p>Its gross profit for 2009 was $7.8 million.
