But the probe may have been hampered more by the killing of the lead detective in the case.<\/p>\n

His killing is yet another reminder of the specter of drug violence in Mexico — and has some wondering whether Salcedo’s family will ever find justice.<\/p>\n

It is not clear how the death of investigator Manuel Acosta<\/a> will affect the case. Authorities would not speculate on whether Acosta’s killing
\nwas related to Salcedo’s.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

“On behalf of my community, we are so grateful for Mr. Acosta’s life
\nand work and for trying to get justice for Bobby and for other people,” said El Monte Mayor Andre Quintero. “Not a day goes by that I don’t introduce myself and the minute I say
\n‘El Monte,’ the first thing that comes out of their mouth is, ‘I’m
\nsorry about Bobby.’ “<\/p>\n
