{"id":259617,"date":"2010-02-01T12:17:10","date_gmt":"2010-02-01T17:17:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/chicagopressrelease.com\/?p=15199"},"modified":"2010-02-01T12:17:10","modified_gmt":"2010-02-01T17:17:10","slug":"boeing-solicits-small-businesses-for-space-station-work-in-houston","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/259617","title":{"rendered":"Boeing solicits small businesses for space station work in Houston"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-15209\" title=\"houston-small-business\" src=\"http:\/\/chicagopressrelease.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/houston-small-business-300x230.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"230\" \/>Boeing [NYSE: BA] announced today that it is preparing competitive procurement opportunities for qualified small businesses to support the company\u2019s work on the International Space Station (ISS).<\/p>\n<p>Boeing\u2019s Space Exploration division, headquartered in Houston, will issue restricted competitions for small and diverse businesses with NASA program experience. <span id=\"more-15199\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>The technical disciplines associated with the solicitations are:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>software engineering<\/li>\n<li>program integration and configuration management<\/li>\n<li>engineering design and analysis<\/li>\n<li>safety and mission assurance<\/li>\n<li>avionics and systems engineering<\/li>\n<li>logistics and maintenance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cIn today\u2019s business environment, many small businesses bring innovative and cost-competitive solutions that can complement our business in support of these Houston-based programs,\u201d said Russell Carroll, director of Supplier Management for Boeing Space Exploration.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBoeing has been a leader in providing opportunities to small businesses in the Houston community for nearly half a century.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Boeing\u2019s legacy in human spaceflight programs spans four decades. The company has worked on every major human spaceflight program since the beginning of the Space Age.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur small-business outreach efforts are an opportunity to listen to representatives from the community and facilitate a process to select the best suppliers to support our Boeing team and offer the best value to NASA,\u201d Carroll added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith these latest opportunities, we are especially interested in suppliers that possess proven experience with human spaceflight programs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Business representatives who would like to receive more information can contact Small Business Liaison Kevin Howard in Houston at 281-226-4381 or via e-mail at <a href=\"mailto:isshoustonsmallbusiness@boeing.com\" rel='nofollow'>isshoustonsmallbusiness@boeing.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Prospective small businesses must submit a completed supplier profile (provided by Howard) no later than Feb. 7 to be eligible to participate.<\/p>\n<p>Boeing is the prime contractor to NASA for the ISS.
