Apple acknowledged the problem and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tuaw.com\/2009\/12\/21\/apple-releases-firmware-update-addressing-27-imac-screen-issues\/\">released a firmware update<\/a> intended to fix it back in December. Unfortunately, the problem persists.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/arstechnica.com\/apple\/news\/2010\/01\/apple-internally-acknowledges-more-27-imac-screen-issues.ars\">According to Ars Technica<\/a>, Apple&#8217;s internal support system is aware of the continuing problem and working on a fix. Customers who complain about the issue are to be told that their faulty display can be replaced &#8220;&#8230;in about three weeks.&#8221; Note that the units currently for sale have a 3-week shipping time, so you might want to wait a month before making a purchase Ars suggests, and we agree.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tuaw.com\/2009\/12\/14\/apple-is-delaying-shipments-of-27-inch-imacs\/\">shipping delays began in December<\/a> when Apple <a href=\"http:\/\/news.cnet.com\/8301-13579_3-10414512-37.html\">declined to comment on why<\/a>, but <a href=\"http:\/\/discussions.apple.com\/thread.jspa?threadID=2212682&amp;start=0&amp;tstart=0\">discussion threads pointed to the display<\/a>.
