{"id":264677,"date":"2010-02-02T11:15:45","date_gmt":"2010-02-02T16:15:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www1.cuny.edu\/mu\/forum\/?p=6258"},"modified":"2010-02-02T11:15:45","modified_gmt":"2010-02-02T16:15:45","slug":"spring-architecture-lectures-explore-green-design-breaking-boundaries","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/264677","title":{"rendered":"Spring Architecture Lectures Explore Green Design, Breaking Boundaries"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Bernard and Anne <a id=\"http:\/\/www1.ccny.cuny.edu\/prospective\/architecture\/index.cfm|\" href=\"http:\/\/www1.ccny.cuny.edu\/prospective\/architecture\/index.cfm\">Spitzer School of Architecture<\/a> at The City College of New York (CCNY) will present the <strong>Sciame Spring Lecture Series \u2013 2010, <\/strong>titled<strong> \u201cCrossing Boundaries: Explorations and Expressions.\u201d\u00a0<\/strong> The series, which presents talks by prominent, award-winning architects, runs eight consecutive <strong>Thursdays, February 11 through April 8<\/strong>.\u00a0 Lectures begin at 6 p.m. and are held in the Spitzer School\u2019s Sciame Auditorium.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe series focuses on green design and the importance of breaking down artificial boundaries between architecture, landscape architecture and the various engineering disciplines involved in developing projects,\u201d explained George Ranalli, Dean of the Spitzer School of Architecture.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www1.ccny.cuny.edu\/advancement\/pr\/images\/Yarinsky_headshot_cropped_1.jpg\" border=\"1\" alt=\"Adam Yarinsky\" hspace=\"5\" vspace=\"8\" width=\"100\" height=\"149\" align=\"left\" \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 8px 5px;border: black 1px solid\" src=\"http:\/\/www1.ccny.cuny.edu\/advancement\/pr\/images\/seavitt_headshot2_1.jpg\" border=\"1\" alt=\"Catherine Seavitt\" hspace=\"5\" vspace=\"8\" width=\"90\" height=\"140\" align=\"left\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The lecture series is sponsored by F.J. Sciame Construction Co. Inc., a New York construction management firm owned by CCNY alumnus Frank J. Sciame.\u00a0 Lecture dates, topics and information about the speakers follows:<br \/>\n<strong><br \/>\nFebruary 11, \u201cOn the Water: Palisade Bay,\u201d Catherine Seavitt and Adam Yarinsky<\/strong><br \/>\nMs. Seavitt is principal of Catherine Seavitt Studio, teaches architectural design at Princeton University and previously taught at The Spitzer School at CCNY.\u00a0 Mr. Yarinsky is principal and co-founder of Architecture Research Office.\u00a0 They co-authored \u201cOn the Water: Palisade Bay\u201d with Guy Nordenson.<\/p>\n<p><strong>February 18, \u201cEnergy sub-structure, Supra-structure, Infra-structure,\u201d Michelle Addington<\/strong><br \/>\nMs. Addington is Associate Professor of Architecture at the Yale School of Architecture.\u00a0 Her teaching and research explore energy systems, advanced materials and new technologies.<\/p>\n<p><strong>February 25, \u201cThe Sustainable Built Environment: Initiating Architectural and Technical Innocation,\u201d Stefan Behnisch<\/strong><br \/>\nA native of Stuttgart, Germany, Mr. Behnisch is principal and founder of Behnisch Architekten, which has offices in Stuttgart, Los Angeles, Boston and Munich.\u00a0 The firm is renowned for its innovative sustainable buildings.<\/p>\n<p><strong>March 4, \u201cState Change: Mobility, Infrastructure and Design for Decentralized Energy,\u201d Sheila Kennedy<\/strong><br \/>\nMs. Kennedy is Professor of the Practice of Architecture at MIT and a principal of Kennedy &amp;
