Pete Hoekstra (R) in the race for the Republican gubernatorial nomination, 32% to 25%.<\/p>\n<p>  In head-to-head matchups, both Cox and Hoekstra defeat Denise Ilitch (D), the leading Democrat tested even though she is not officially in the race.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The poll comes after Lt. Gov. John Cherry&#8217;s (D) withdrawal from the  Democratic race earlier this month.
