The State Energy
\nEfficient Appliance Rebate Program<\/a>, also known as “Cash
\nfor Refrigerators<\/a>,” has officially started, but whether you can get a rebate
\nyet depends on where you live.<\/p>\n

The program is being funded with $300 million in federal
\nstimulus money, but each state is operating its own program and has different
\nstart dates, budgets, and rules. <\/p>\n

In general, buyers can earn rebates of $50 to
\n$250 for replacing older, inefficient appliances with Energy Star qualified
\nproducts. <\/p>\n

If it’s as popular as “Cash for Clunkers,” money could run
\nout fast. So if you want to participate, start now by finding out
\nwhat the deal is in your state.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

Programs in Connecticut<\/a>,
\nDelaware<\/a>,
\nIllinois<\/a>,
\nKansas<\/a>,
\nNew Jersey<\/a>,
\nOregon<\/a>,
\nVermont<\/a>,
\nand Wisconsin<\/a>
\nare already in progress. <\/p>\n

All the rest begin over the next couple of
\nmonths, according to a Department
