He has written several books of poetry, which include \u201cParallel Play,\u201d \u201cPopular Music,\u201d and \u201cShot Clocks: Poems for the WNBA.\u201d Other books include \u201cSomething Understood: Essays and Poetry for Helen Vendler,\u201d \u201cThe Forms of Youth: Twentieth-Century Poetry and Adolescence,\u201d \u201cRandall Jarrell and His Age,\u201d and \u201cThe Art of the Sonnet,\u201d forthcoming in April.<\/p>\n<p>Burt is a frequent contributor to literary journals around the country, and his critical essays have been featured, most notably, in The Times Literary Supplement and The New York Times.<\/p>\n<p>The NBCC consists of more than 600 active book reviewers who are interested in honoring quality writing and communicating with one another about common concerns.<\/p>\n<p>Winners will be announced in a ceremony in New York City on March 11.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Associate Professor of English Stephen Burt has been named a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle (NBCC) Award in Criticism for his book \u201cClose Calls with Nonsense: Reading New Poetry.\u201d The announcement was made on Jan. 23.
