\nMarkos Moulitsas over at Daily Kos has just released<\/a> the
\nresults of a poll he had conducted by Research 2000 of over
\n2,000 self-identified Republicans.\n<\/p>\n

\nThe poll contains lots of interesting
\ninformation about what "self-identified" Republicans apparently think (or are
\nwilling to cop to in a telephone poll). Apparently 23 percent think their state
\nshould secede from the union! <\/strong>Didn’t
\nwe try that already?\n<\/p>\n

\nOnly 8 percent of Republicans think gays should be allowed
\nto teach in public schools? I’m now wondering what the response would have been if
\nthe question was "Should being gay become illegal, should the death penalty be
\nimposed for it<\/em>?" Would it also be plus or minus 8 percent?\n<\/p>\n

\nRepublicans: Birth Control = abortion = murder <\/strong>\n<\/p>\n

\nApparently there is also some major confusion by Republicans
\nabout contraception being the same as an abortion (which they are also
\nagainst).\n<\/p>\n

\nSo while 31 percent believe that contraception should be
\noutlawed (I’d love to see them try that as a campaign platform) it’s possible
\nthat it’s the same percentage that also considers birth control is abortion.\n<\/p>\n

\nAnyway let’s be grateful for small favors. At least 86
\npercent of Republicans think women should work outside the home and only 13
\npercent think "men are leaders of their household."\n<\/p>\n
