Audi will air a humorous commercial during Super Bowl XLIV to promote its diesel technology that features\u00a0environmental-crusading \u201cGreen Police.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe decided the usual Audi style of subtle and understated would not be appropriate here,\u201d said Audi of America President Johan de Nysschen. \u201cWe knew that it needed to be a bit bolder and that humor is a very effective way to make an impression during the Super Bowl.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 60-second spot shows a shopper asking for plastic bag instead of a paper bag when the Green Police comes running and slams the shopper’s head on the price scanner and says “You picked the wrong day to mess with the green police, plastic boy.”<\/p>\n

An Audi vehicle does not appear until near the end, when the Green Police allows an A3 diesel to pass through a roadblock while keeping other gas-guzzling vehicles waiting in a long line.<\/p>\n

Audi is also running a bunch of viral ads on YouTube leading up to the big commercial during the Super Bowl game. They have also created a song called “Cheap Trick” which you can download here<\/a>.<\/p>\n
