{"id":281366,"date":"2010-02-05T08:43:40","date_gmt":"2010-02-05T13:43:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/greenenergyreporter.com\/?p=6089"},"modified":"2010-02-05T08:43:40","modified_gmt":"2010-02-05T13:43:40","slug":"hongkong-electric-holdings-proposes-100-megawatt-offshore-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/281366","title":{"rendered":"Hongkong Electric Holdings Proposes 100 Megawatt Offshore Project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.greenenergyreporter.com\/wp-content\/themes\/v1\/img\/cat\/wind.png\" width=\"8\" height=\"8\" alt=\"\" title=\"Wind\" \/><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_6097\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\" style=\"width: 160px\"><a href=\"http:\/\/greenenergyreporter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/HKElectricOffshoreWindFarm1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-6097\" title=\"HKElectricOffshoreWindFarm1\" src=\"http:\/\/greenenergyreporter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/HKElectricOffshoreWindFarm1-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Hongkong Electric goes offshore<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Following the recent rage for big offfshore wind projects, Hongkong Electric Holdings today <a href=\"http:\/\/www.heh.com\/hehWeb\/MediaCentre\/PressRelease\/Year2010\/05022010_en.htm\">proposed<\/a> a 100 megawatt offshore wind farm at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/idUSTRE6141X220100205?feedType=RSS&amp;feedName=GCA-GreenBusiness&amp;utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Feed%3A+reuters%2FUSgreenbusinessNews+%28News+%2F+US+%2F+Green+Business%29\">a cost of about $385 million<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The project could meet 1-2 percent of the company\u2019s electric output with 28 to 35 wind turbines installed over a 600-hectare site in the Southwest Lamma Channel.<span id=\"more-6089\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Hong Kong Electric\u2019s announcement comes on the heels of a report by the Global wind Energy Council that shows <a href=\"http:\/\/greenenergyreporter.com\/2010\/02\/china-plows-ahead-of-u-s-and-europe-doubles-wind-power-in-2009\/\">China is adding wind capacity much faster<\/a> than any other country.<\/p>\n<p>China added 13,000 megawatts in 2009, more than doubling its capacity.<\/p>\n<p>Honkong Electrric is considering eight sites for the project, which is slated for completion in 2015. The environmental impact statement will be available on Monday <a href=\"http:\/\/www.epd.gov.hk\/eia\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The site is 4 kilometers from Lamma Island, just south of Hong Kong island, where the company has a power station that can provide support for the construction stage.<\/p>\n<p>The company does not anticipate any adverse impacts on fisheries, bird habitats or any wildlife, according to its release.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/feeds.feedburner.com\/~r\/GreenEnergyReporter\/~4\/LPO28wbznf4\" height=\"1\" width=\"1\"\/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hongkong Electric goes offshore Following the recent rage for big offfshore wind projects, Hongkong Electric Holdings today proposed a 100 megawatt offshore wind farm at a cost of about $385 million.
