Wolfgang Bernhard will come back to Daimler AG’s Mercedes-Benz Cars, the company said today in a statement.<\/p>\n

“Daimler AG intends to appoint Dr. Wolfgang Bernhard as a full member of the Board of Management of Daimler,” Daimler said in a statement.<\/p>\n

Bernhard, 49, will be responsible for Mercedes-Benz Cars’ production procurement and the Mercedes-Benz van division.<\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

Bernhard was due to become the head of Mercedes-Benz Cars in 2004 before union opposition to his appointment and disagreements with the CEO at the time, Juergen Schrempp. That led to his demotion and eventual departure from Daimler. He also took a short stay as CEO of the Volkswagen brand between 2005 and 2007.<\/p>\n
