{"id":283557,"date":"2010-02-05T17:34:28","date_gmt":"2010-02-05T22:34:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.szone.us\/f78\/foundation-grant-targets-children-haiti-39117\/"},"modified":"2010-02-05T17:34:28","modified_gmt":"2010-02-05T22:34:28","slug":"foundation-grant-targets-children-in-haiti","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/283557","title":{"rendered":"Foundation grant targets children in Haiti"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>02.05.10 06:27 AM<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kiwanis.org\/foundation\" >Kiwanis International Foundation<\/a> (KIF) has awarded a $10,000 grant from its Disaster Relief Fund to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.scaw.org\/\" >Sleeping Children Around the World<\/a> to provide bed kits for children in Haiti. The grant was requested by Aktion Club, which adopted Sleeping Children Around the World as its service initiative about three years ago.<\/p>\n<p> A massive earthquake struck Haiti on January 12, reducing most of its capital and the surrounding area to rubble. This most recent grant brings the amount of money the foundation has earmarked for disaster relief there to more than $40,000.<\/p>\n<p> Founded in 1970, Sleeping Children Around the World has been providing bed kits to children in need around the world, mostly in underdeveloped and developing countries. Each bed kit includes a mat or mattress, pillow, sheet, blanket, mosquito net (if needed), clothes outfit, towel and school supplies.
