Laser Bay 1 holds half of the NIF's 192 beams\"><\/p>\n<p>In their quest to be the first to trigger a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gizmag.com\/national-ignition-facility-megalaser\/11165\/\" >nuclear fusion reaction using lasers<\/a> scientists at the National Ignition Facility (NIF) at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) have delivered more than one megajoule of laser energy to a target.
