{"id":291887,"date":"2010-02-08T00:09:00","date_gmt":"2010-02-08T05:09:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/despite-all-the-talk-the-dollar-is-used-worldwide-more-than-ever-2010-2"},"modified":"2010-02-08T00:09:00","modified_gmt":"2010-02-08T05:09:00","slug":"despite-all-the-hate-american-dollars-are-used-worldwide-more-than-ever","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/291887","title":{"rendered":"Despite All The Hate, American Dollars Are Used Worldwide More Than Ever"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"float_right\" src=\"http:\/\/static.businessinsider.com\/image\/807a6c799aa557483f357c00-400-\/eurodollar.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"eurodollar\" width=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<p>You&#8217;d imagine that the dollar&#8217;s stature has fallen over the last ten years, given the U.S. financial crisis, the rise of China, and simply due the media bashing it has sustained internationally.<\/p>\n<p>Funny thing is that it continues to be used just like it used to be, and even more so.<\/p>\n<p>According to U.S. federal reserve economist Linda Goldberg, the dollar&#8217;s share of international transactions stood at 86% in 2007, which is just above its share back in 1995.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.wsj.com\/economics\/2010\/02\/06\/despite-carping-dollar-is-still-king\/\">WSJ:<\/a> &ldquo;Overall, despite market turbulence and substantial movements in the value of the dollar over the past decade, the dollar has not declined in prominence either as a central currency for exchange rate arrangements or as an international reserve currency,&rdquo; she writes. The euro, which was touted as a big rival to the dollar, hasn&rsquo;t been much of a challenger&mdash;at least so far.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps the dollar is akin to Coca-Cola and McDonald&#8217;s.
