Complex valve adjustment procedures, previously required at 7,500 miles and beyond the realm of most shade tree mechanics, often meant that riders of modest means shopped elsewhere.  <\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-36478\"><\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_36481\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" style=\"width: 510px\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ridelust.com\/ducati-announces-15k-mile-service-intervals-on-2010-multistrada-1200\/ducati-unveils-the-2010-multistrada-1200-medium_7\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-36481\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ridelust.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/ducati-unveils-the-2010-multistrada-1200-medium_7-500x373.jpg\" alt=\"2010 Ducati Multistrada 1200\" title=\"ducati-unveils-the-2010-multistrada-1200-medium_7\" width=\"500\" height=\"373\" class=\"size-large wp-image-36481\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">It even looks good as a bagger.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Ducati claims the new Testastretta motor improves fuel efficiency, reduces maintenance costs and produces lower emission, while maintaining the level of performance expected from Ducati.  New, harder valve seat material was used in the Testastretta motor to enable the longer service intervals.  Prices start at $14,995 for the 1200 without ABS and jump to $19,995 for the top of the line Sport version.  A base version with ABS is also available for $16,495.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_36480\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" style=\"width: 510px\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ridelust.com\/ducati-announces-15k-mile-service-intervals-on-2010-multistrada-1200\/ducati-multistrada-1100-right\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-36480\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ridelust.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/ducati-multistrada-1100-right.jpg\" alt=\"2008 Ducati Multistrada 1200\" title=\"ducati-multistrada-1100-right\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" class=\"size-full wp-image-36480\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">What the hell were they thinking with the earlier model styling?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Styling on the old Multistrada was polarizing, with riders falling into the \u201clove it\u201d or \u201chate it\u201d camps.  Personally, I thought it was ugly as sin, not something I often say about Italian designs.  The new Multistrada 1200 loses the bloated fairing and bland lines, and returns to Ducati\u2019s more traditional (read: minimalist) styling.
