{"id":292814,"date":"2010-02-08T11:05:48","date_gmt":"2010-02-08T16:05:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.hydrogencarsnow.com\/blog2\/?p=1116"},"modified":"2010-02-08T11:05:48","modified_gmt":"2010-02-08T16:05:48","slug":"bc-transit-fuel-cell-buses-in-operation-for-2010-winter-olympics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/292814","title":{"rendered":"BC Transit Fuel Cell Buses in Operation for 2010 Winter Olympics"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In November 2009, I had talked about how the first of the 20 BC Transit hydrogen <a title=\"fuel cell buses\" href=\"http:\/\/www.hydrogencarsnow.com\/blog2\/index.php\/hydrogen-vehicles\/hydrogen-buses-arriving-for-2010-vancouver-winter-olympics\/\" >fuel cell buses<\/a> were arriving in Whistler, British Columbia in time for the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.<\/p>\n<p>The 20 BC Transit hydrogen buses, powered by Ballard fuel cells, are the <a title=\"largest\" href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=HvP1nSEB-po\" >largest<\/a> single bus fleet anywhere. Besides being zero emissions vehicles, the BC hydrogen buses have a range of over 300 miles and can be refueled in 8 to 10 minutes. Air Liquide will be supplying the compressed hydrogen gas for refueling.<\/p>\n<p>Once the Olympics are over with the buses will continue to be part of the <a title=\"BC Canada Hydrogen Highway\" href=\"http:\/\/www.hydrogencarsnow.com\/BC-Canada-hydrogen-highway.htm\" >BC Canada Hydrogen Highway<\/a> system, which is part of the West Coast hydrogen highway system that is being built from Whistler, BC all the way down the coast to around the San Diego area.<\/p>\n<p>The <a title=\"2009 Hydrogen Road Tour\" href=\"http:\/\/www.hydrogencarsnow.com\/blog2\/index.php\/conferences\/hydrogen-road-tour-2009-starting-next-tuesday-may-26\/\" >2009 Hydrogen Road Tour<\/a> that took place this past summer featured a procession of hydrogen cars traveling from Chula Vista, CA (south of San Diego) to Vancouver, BC with many stops at H2 fueling stations along the way.<\/p>\n<p>Joining the 20 BC Transit H2 <a title=\"buses\" href=\"http:\/\/cafcp.org\/fuel-cells-and-hydrogen-olympic-games\" >buses<\/a> at the Olympics will be a hydrogen fuel cell hybrid bus from the <a title=\"University of South Carolina\" href=\"http:\/\/www.hydrogencarsnow.com\/blog2\/index.php\/hydrogen-vehicles\/university-of-south-carolina-hydrogen-bus-heads-to-olympics\/\" >University of South Carolina<\/a> and a fleet of <a title=\"Chevy Equinox fuel cell\" href=\"http:\/\/www.hydrogencarsnow.com\/chevy-equinox-fuel-cell-suv.htm\" >Chevy Equinox fuel cell<\/a> vehicles.
