The plant, located in Middletown, Conn., is owned by Kleen Energy Systems,\u00a0 a special purpose company owned by Energy Investors Funds (EIF), an energy-focused private equity fund with substantial investments in renewable energy.<span id=\"more-6178\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Besides natural gas-fired power plants, EIF also controls biomass, hydroelectric and geothermal power plants.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement released yesterday, EIF said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Energy Investors Funds wishes to express our enormous sympathy and concern for the workers at the Kleen Energy plant and their families. We strongly value their contributions, efforts and dedication. We are fully cooperating with authorities, and will provide further comment once more information becomes available.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/online.wsj.com\/article\/SB10001424052748703630404575053132425186178.html?mod=WSJ_hpp_MIDDLENexttoWhatsNewsSecond\" >On Monday, officials said they believed everyone at the plant has been accounted for<\/a>. Also, the U.S. Chemical Safety Board sent seven officials to determine the cause of the explosion.<\/p>\n<p>EIF owns 80 percent of Kleen Energy.
