General Motors announced today that repair parts for the sticking accelerator pedal issue in the 2009-2010 Pontiac Vibe will begin being shipped to dealers this week.<\/p>\n
“Letters to Vibe customers will be mailed Feb. 16 with instructions to contact their Pontiac dealer after Feb. 22 to have a precision-cut steel reinforcement bar inserted into the accelerator pedal assembly,” GM said in a statement, “The installation will take about 30 minutes but customers may need to leave their vehicles with dealers for a longer period of time.”<\/p>\n
GM said that customers will also receive a second letter when a solution is available for the recall covering floor mat interference. It said that customers are urged to remove floor mats for now.<\/p>\n
The Pontiac Vibe is based on the Toyota Matrix, which was one of the many vehicles recalled by Toyota.<\/p>\n
