{"id":296023,"date":"2010-02-08T22:24:34","date_gmt":"2010-02-09T03:24:34","guid":{"rendered":"tag:blogs.rj.org,2010:\/rac\/\/2.2434"},"modified":"2010-02-08T22:29:40","modified_gmt":"2010-02-09T03:29:40","slug":"davos-shabbos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/296023","title":{"rendered":"Davos Shabbos"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>        I must admit, I&#8217;ve always kind of wanted to go to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.weforum.org\/en\/events\/AnnualMeeting2010\/Sun31\/index.htm\">World<br \/>\nEconomic Forum<\/a> in Davos, Switzerland.<span style=\"\">&nbsp;<br \/>\n<\/span>The sessions are amazing, the location lovely, and all the coolest kids<br \/>\n(Nicolas Sarkozy, Muhammad Yunus, Bill Clinton) are there.<\/p>\n<p>I never really thought much about the Jewish side of Davos,<br \/>\nor even that there is a Jewish side.<span style=\"\">&nbsp;<br \/>\n<\/span>Perhaps that&#8217;s why I enjoyed Daniel Gross&#8217; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tabletmag.com\/life-and-religion\/25198\/davos-shabbos\/?utm_source=rss&amp;utm_medium=rss&amp;utm_campaign=davos-shabbos\">great<br \/>\nreport<\/a> on a memorable Shabbat dinner at Davos.<span style=\"\"> <\/span>(It was published on <i><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tabletmag.com\/\">Tablet:<br \/>\nA New Read on Jewish Life<\/a><\/i>, an interesting new(ish) website where I find<br \/>\nsomething interesting nearly every time I look at it.) Gross writes:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><i>My table represented something of a cross section of Davos: the editor of<\/i> Foreign Policy<i>,<br \/>\ntwo venture capitalists, a London-based executive at Google, the head<br \/>\nof a large French industrial concern, a young management consultant.<br \/>\nOne table over was what I called the adult table&#8211;the head of one of the<br \/>\nworld&#8217;s largest private equity firms, an undersecretary of state, one<br \/>\nof the best-known Jewish philanthropists.
