Robbins &#8212; who won a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his role in the Clint Eastwood&#8217;s <em>Mystic River<\/em> &#8212; will play Senator Hammond, the disapproving father of the movie&#8217;s villain, Dr. Hector Hammond (Peter Sarsgaard), who becomes infused with psychic powers.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.popcrunch.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/INFphoto_1174012-500x626.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"Tim Robbins\" width=\"500\" height=\"626\" class=\"alignright size-large wp-image-92397\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This is the second comic book movie for Robbins &#8212; who last seen in the 2008 sci-fi fil <em>City of Ember<\/em> &#8212; he appeared in the 1986 adaptation of Marvel&#8217;s Howard the Duck.<\/p>\n<p>As previously announced, Ryan Reynolds has been cast in the lead role of <em>Green Lantern<\/em>, while <em>Gossip Girl&#8217;s<\/em> Blake Lively will portray his onscreen love interest, Carol Ferris.<\/p>\n<p><em>Green Lantern<\/em> begins filming in New Orleans next month.  <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/feedads.g.doubleclick.net\/~a\/d0Llsm2FgD6VpKVNZpmreb8uH4w\/0\/da\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/feedads.g.doubleclick.net\/~a\/d0Llsm2FgD6VpKVNZpmreb8uH4w\/0\/di\" border=\"0\" ismap=\"true\"><\/img><\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/feedads.g.doubleclick.net\/~a\/d0Llsm2FgD6VpKVNZpmreb8uH4w\/1\/da\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/feedads.g.doubleclick.net\/~a\/d0Llsm2FgD6VpKVNZpmreb8uH4w\/1\/di\" border=\"0\" ismap=\"true\"><\/img><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tim Robbins has joined the cast of Warner Bros.&#8217; Green Lantern, the superhero movie based on the DC Comics character, The Hollywood Reporter revealed on Tuesday.
