{"id":298734,"date":"2010-02-09T15:42:12","date_gmt":"2010-02-09T20:42:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www1.cuny.edu\/mu\/forum\/?p=6466"},"modified":"2010-02-09T15:42:12","modified_gmt":"2010-02-09T20:42:12","slug":"spitzer-school-of-architecture-presents-exhibit-of-jose-oubrerie","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/298734","title":{"rendered":"SPITZER SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE PRESENTS EXHIBIT OF JOSE OUBRERIE"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>\u2014 Church in Firminy, Miller House to be Featured \u2014<\/strong><\/div>\n<p>The Bernard and Anne <a id=\"http:\/\/www1.ccny.cuny.edu\/prospective\/architecture\/index.cfm|\" href=\"http:\/\/www1.ccny.cuny.edu\/prospective\/architecture\/index.cfm\">Spitzer School of Architecture<\/a> (Spitzer School) at The City College of New York (CCNY) presents an exhibit on the works of noted French architect and author Jose Oubrerie.\u00a0 It debuts on February 16 and will be on display through May 14.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibit will feature Oubrerie\u2019s best-known works, the Church of St. Pierre in Firminy, France, and the Miller House in Lexington, Ky.\u00a0 This is the Spitzer School\u2019s first exhibit to feature the work of an outside architect.\u00a0 It will be displayed in the Spitzer School\u2019s exhibit gallery located in the central atrium.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www1.ccny.cuny.edu\/advancement\/pr\/images\/Church-at-Firminy_1.jpg\" alt=\"Church at Firminy\" hspace=\"5\" vspace=\"8\" width=\"200\" height=\"133\" align=\"left\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In addition, The School is producing the book on Oubrerie\u2019s work that will feature many photos and drawings of the two buildings.\u00a0 It will be published by Oscar Riera Publishing and is also made possible by a generous donation from Elise Jaffe + Jeffrey Brown.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Oubrerie, who now teaches in the United States, is the last living prot\u00e9g\u00e9 of Charles-Edouard Jeanneret-Gris, aka Le Corbusier, the French architect considered one of the pioneers of modern architecture.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe worked on many of the later works of the office, most notable the design for Firminy Church,\u201d said George Ranalli, the Dean of the Spitzer School.\u00a0 \u201cAfter Corbusier\u2019s death, he went into practice and produced many excellent projects, especially the two projects in our exhibit, the Miller House in Kentucky and the completion of the Firminy Church.\u00a0 His work is extraordinary.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Gallery will be open to the public 9 a.m. \u2013 6 p.m., Monday \u2013 Friday.\u00a0 The Spitzer School is located at 141 Convent Avenue in Manhattan.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Contact:<\/strong> Ellis Simon, 212\/650-6460, <a href=\"mailto:esimon@ccny.cuny.edu\">esimon@ccny.cuny.edu<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u2014 Church in Firminy, Miller House to be Featured \u2014 The Bernard and Anne Spitzer School of Architecture (Spitzer School) at The City College of New York (CCNY) presents an exhibit on the works of noted French architect and author Jose Oubrerie.\u00a0 It debuts on February 16 and will be on display through May 14.
