{"id":299281,"date":"2010-02-08T20:00:38","date_gmt":"2010-02-09T01:00:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/seattletimes.nwsource.com\/html\/northwestvoices\/2011018942_microsoftsmissteps.html?syndication=rss"},"modified":"2010-02-08T20:00:38","modified_gmt":"2010-02-09T01:00:38","slug":"microsofts-missteps","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/299281","title":{"rendered":"Microsoft&#8217;s missteps"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Take hint from \u2018Undercover Boss\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The recent commentary by former Microsoft Executive Dick Brass regarding Microsoft\u2019s loss of any innovative edge and the rebuttal by Frank Shaw, corporate vice president for corporate communications [\u201cMicrosoft\u2019s creative destruction\u201d and \u201cMicrosoft: A good idea isn\u2019t enough,\u201d Business, Feb. 8], was eerily reminiscent of Dilbert \u2014 a regular feature I read in the comics section of the paper.<\/p>\n<p>On the one hand, we have a logical reconstruction of Microsoft\u2019s miscues, articulated by a company insider with a credible perspective on the issues under discussion. On the other hand, we have a corporate executive striving to characterize the color black as actually only a misrepresentation of a slightly shaded color white.<\/p>\n<p>Following the Super Bowl, I watched the new reality series \u201cUndercover Boss.\u201d In a nutshell, the boss discovers that life in the real world of his company is distinctly different from that perceived in the executive hallways.
