(OK, so you can&#8217;t actually <em>buy<\/em> a baby orangutan &#8212; nor would we recommend it, considering that <a href=\"http:\/\/latimesblogs.latimes.com\/unleashed\/2009\/04\/sumatran-orangutans-imperiled-by-the-pet-trade-report-finds.html\">the pet trade is reportedly a major problem<\/a> facing at least one orangutan subspecies, the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sumatran_Orangutan\">Sumatran orangutan<\/a>. But we suspect a plush baby-orangutan doll would be fairly easy to come by in Dresden.)\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Just a few months back, Dresden Zoo orangutan resident Daisy <a href=\"http:\/\/latimesblogs.latimes.com\/unleashed\/2009\/12\/orangutan-baby-dresden-zoo.html\">gave birth to a son<\/a>, Dodi. (Dodi <a href=\"http:\/\/latimesblogs.latimes.com\/unleashed\/2009\/12\/your-morning-adorable-baby-orangutan-dodi-makes-his-debut-at-germanys-dresden-zoo.html?cid=6a00d8341c630a53ef0128768931ec970c\">made his public debut<\/a> in late December.) <\/p>\n<p>As if criminally adorable baby Dodi weren&#8217;t enough, another orangutan resident of the Dresden Zoo, Djudi (above), gave birth Jan. 30 to a baby named Duran. At age 36, Djudi has become the oldest orangutan mother in any European zoo; Duran is her fifth offspring.
