{"id":30468,"date":"2009-10-21T13:03:00","date_gmt":"2009-10-21T17:03:00","guid":{"rendered":"tag:whitehouse.gov,2009-10-21:170300"},"modified":"2009-10-21T13:03:00","modified_gmt":"2009-10-21T17:03:00","slug":"why-we-bar-lobbyists-from-agency-advisory-boards-and-commissions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/30468","title":{"rendered":"Why We Bar Lobbyists from Agency Advisory Boards and Commissions"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\">In the interest of transparency, we are posting a letter we received from lobbyists and others about the Administration&rsquo;s move to bar federally-registered lobbyists from federal boards and commissions.&nbsp; We are also publishing our response, which explains the reasoning behind this decision.<\/div>\n<div style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\">It all started with a blog post where we announced the new steps the Administration was taking to reduce lobbyist influence on these important boards and commissions:<\/div>\n<div style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\">The White House has informed executive agencies and departments that it is our aspiration that federally-registered lobbyists not be appointed to agency advisory boards and commissions. These appointees to boards and commissions, which are made by agencies and not the President, advise the federal government on a variety of policy areas.
