On July 3, 2009, Grant\u2019s issued a statement that a new rebate program would be implemented with \u201cMy Free Travel\u201d that required a $9.95 registration fee, according to the suit.<\/p>\n
Craigo registered for the new program, but neither Grant\u2019s nor My Free Travel complied with the program, the suit said.<\/p>\n
After multiple emails in January 2010 about the end of the program, Grant\u2019s sent an email to customers offering a 20-percent discount, up to $1,000, on the purchase of regularly priced items if the customer released the store from \u201cany potential obligation\u201d under the previous rebate programs, the suit said.<\/p>\n
The class action suit claims breach of contract and fraud by Bassgar-Illinois, Inc., which does business as Grant\u2019s Hardware Joliet, Grant\u2019s of Joliet, Grant\u2019s Hardware, Grant\u2019s Hardware West, Inc., Grant\u2019s West, Grant\u2019s appliances T.V. & Video and Grant\u2019s Appliance Electronics & More.<\/p>\n
It seeks actual damages, costs, an order requiring Grant\u2019s to honor the rebates and other relief. The suit claims total damages which exceed $5 million.<\/p>\n
