Unsatisfied with running just your searches, browser, e-mail, calendar, documents, videos, cell phone, turn-by-turn navigation, operating system, electricity monitoring, much of the advertising on the Internet and more, Google has announced that it plans to experiment with providing Internet service that is about 100 times faster than what most Americans are used to. There\u2019s a logic to Mountain View\u2019s overachieving. We\u2019ve urged the FCC to look at new and creative ways to get there in its National Broadband Plan \u2013 and today we\u2019re announcing an experiment of our own. We\u2019re planning to build and test ultra high-speed broadband networks in a small number of trial locations across the United States. We\u2019ll deliver Internet speeds more than 100 times faster than what most Americans have access to today with 1 gigabit per second, fiber-to-the-home connections.
