The American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) has called the ABC\/American University Investigative Reporting Workshop report that found green stimulus dollars are flowing<\/a> overseas \u201ca fictional account.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n The AWEA\u2019s Into the Wind blog\u00a0 today posted a scathing repudiation of the story,\u00a0 which found that 79 percent of the $2.1 billion in green energy stimulus funds has gone to companies based overseas.<\/span><\/p>\n The AWEA counters that \u201c100 percent of stimulus dollars going to the wind industry have gone to wind projects constructed and operated in the United States.\u201d<\/p>\n The post continues,<\/p>\n What AU and ABC are really riled up about is the fact the turbines being erected across the United States contain 53% American-made content, instead of 100%. The U.S. wind industry is trying to increase those numbers as fast as it can, encouraging foreign-based manufacturers to locate here, and in just 4 short years we\u2019ve added dozens of new manufacturing facilities<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n The AWEA also posted a point by point list<\/a> of \u201cinaccuracies and distortions\u201d for which they would like an on-air correction.<\/p>\n![\"\"](\"http:\/\/greenenergyreporter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/frontpagebanner_left.jpg\" "\\"frontpagebanner_left\\"")
