{"id":309397,"date":"2010-02-11T14:48:05","date_gmt":"2010-02-11T19:48:05","guid":{"rendered":"tag:consumerist.com,2010:\/\/1.10001879"},"modified":"2010-02-11T14:34:04","modified_gmt":"2010-02-11T19:34:04","slug":"google-pulls-plug-on-several-blogger-pages-for-dmca-violations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/309397","title":{"rendered":"Google Pulls Plug On Several Blogger Pages For DMCA Violations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/consumerist.com\/assets_c\/2010\/02\/Blogger-thumb-215x213-36919.jpg\">         <\/p>\n<p>The folks at Google are a busy bunch &#8212; in the same day that they <a href=\"http:\/\/consumerist.com\/2010\/02\/google-buzz-makes-private-contact-info-public.html\" >made your Gmail contact list a public matter<\/a> with their Facebook wannabe Google Buzz, they pulled the plug without warning on a handful of popular music blogs in their blogger.com network for alleged violations of that<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Digital_Millennium_Copyright_Act\"> holiest of Internet grails, the Digital Millenium Copyright Act.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>While Google would not comment on any specific sites that were taken down in recent days, they did issue a statement:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Last summer, we updated our enforcement of the DMCA. Our current policy is that when we receive a DMCA complaint, we:<\/p>\n<p>    \u2022 Notify the blogger about the complaint by e-mail and on the Blogger dashboard.<br \/>\n    \u2022 Reset the offending post to &#8216;draft&#8217; status, allowing the blogger to remove the offending content.<br \/>\n    \u2022 Send a copy of the complaint to ChillingEffects.org.<\/p>\n<p>When we receive multiple DMCA complaints about the same blog, and have no indication that the offending content is being used in an authorized manner, we will remove the blog.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>There is an appeals process that can be taken by blogs that feel they&#8217;ve been unjustly caught up in this latest DMCA manhunt.
