Giraffe mother Jonna, a resident of Denmark’s Aalborg Zoo<\/a>, gave birth to a female calf on Feb. 11. (That’s right; this baby isn’t just new<\/em>, it’s brand spanking<\/em> new!) Of course, Jonna lost no time in cleaning the calf, who looks little but actually measures somewhere in the neighborhood of 6 feet tall.<\/p>\n Contrary to a popular notion, giraffes have the same number of neck vertebrae<\/a> as humans do — seven, if you’re keeping score — but each giraffe vertebra can measure 10 inches long or more.
