{"id":311472,"date":"2010-02-12T01:23:00","date_gmt":"2010-02-12T06:23:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/another-saudi-headache-nigerias-new-president-means-potential-for-huge-oil-production-growth-2010-2"},"modified":"2010-02-12T01:23:00","modified_gmt":"2010-02-12T06:23:00","slug":"another-saudi-headache-nigerias-new-president-could-ramp-this-mavinss-huge-oil-production-by-50","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/311472","title":{"rendered":"Another Saudi Headache: Nigeria&#8217;s New President Could Ramp This MAVINS&#8217;s Huge Oil Production By 50%"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"float_right\" src=\"http:\/\/static.businessinsider.com\/image\/4b74f02d0000000000c21b81-400-\/chart.png\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Chart\" width=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Nigeria&#8217;s new president Goodluck Jonathan could help pacify Nigerian rebels who have long made Nigeria a treacherous place for oil companies, and he knows it.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s because he&#8217;s the first Nigerian president who hails from the ethnic minority in Nigeria&#8217;s oil-rich Niger Delta, where all the trouble is.<\/p>\n<p>Even while serving as just acting president, he already met with international oil executives on Thursday to plan Nigeria&#8217;s oil future.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/online.wsj.com\/article\/SB10001424052748704337004575059513069700470.html?mod=WSJ_hpp_sections_world\">WSJ:<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Under the peace program that began last summer, the Nigerian government has essentially paid militants to lay down their arms. However, the delta&#8217;s main militant group recently called off its cease fire because of its unhappiness over how little money the government is putting into the region.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Wale Tinubu, chief executive of Oando PLC, Nigeria&#8217;s biggest nonstate energy company by revenue and oil production, said he thinks Mr. Jonathan&#8217;s ascent to power could spur the reconciliation process between the government and militants.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8220;Jonathan will make a renewed push towards peace in the Delta and I do believe that will reassure investors in the oil industry,&#8221; said Mr. Tinubu who wasn&#8217;t at Thursday&#8217;s government meeting.<\/p>\n<p>Peace could yield enormous dividends.
