When it came on the market, we knew it was there.&quot;\"><\/img><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The flat-roofed homes look like something out of a Rat Pack movie.<\/p>\n<p>Wooden beams, walls of glass, concrete floors, central courtyards, open layouts and expansive backyards with pool.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>There are tracts of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eichlersocal.com\/\">Eichler homes<\/a> around California &#8212; and in recent years, they have become a favorite of the architecturally minded looking for that midcentury modern look. <\/p>\n<p>This week, the L.A. City Council named a tract in Granada Hills as a preservation zone. <\/p>\n<p><span id=\"RDS_Site\"><\/p>\n<p>&quot;This is very significant,&quot; Ken Bernstein, director of<br \/>\nthe city Office of Historic Resources, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailynews.com\/news\/ci_14386819\">told the Daily News. <\/a>&quot;Balboa Highlands is the first<br \/>\nValley postwar neighborhood to achieve historic district status&#8230;. It is, in many ways, a coming of age in the Valley.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>Most preservation zones in L.A. focus on older neighborhoods.
