Bryant was selected for the honor out of six finalists &#8212; which included Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett, LeBron James, Steve Nash, and Shaquille O&#8217;Neal. For the first time since 1997, the league&#8217;s All-Star Game was played without both Bryant and O&#8217;Neal.
