Approximately 80 of music\u2019s biggest names gathered on February 1, 2010 to remake the 1985 charity classic \u201cWe Are The World,\u201d in an effort to raise funds for earthquake-ravaged Haiti. \u201cWe Are The World: 25 For Haiti” made its debut during the opening ceremonies of the Vancouver Winter Olympics on Friday night — but at least one music notable would have liked to see the anthem remain “untouched.” <\/p>\n

\u201cI know everybody is gonna take this wrong: \u2018We Are the World,\u2019 I love it, and I understand the point and think it\u2019s great. But I think \u2018We Are the World\u2019 is like [Michael Jackson\u2019s] \u2018Thriller\u2019 to me. I don\u2019t ever wanna see it touched,\u201d<\/em> rap mogul Jay-Z told MTV.com at the \u201c2 Kings\u201d dinner during NBA All Star Weekend in Dallas on Saturday night.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m a fan of music. I know the plight and everything that\u2019s going on in Haiti. I applaud the efforts: [Millions have been raised] through text [donations] to Haiti,\u201d<\/em> Hov continued. \u201cSo I appreciate the efforts and everything, but \u2018We Are The World\u2019 is [musically] untouchable like \u2018Thriller\u2019 is untouchable. Some things are just untouchable. It was a valiant effort, but for me, it\u2019s gonna be untouchable.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
