Daimler AG is giving its dealer network ample time to prepare for the introduction of electric cars; the manufacturer aims to ensure that the network is prepared within two years.<\/p>\n
“The expertise must be available in service shops by 2012,” said development chief Thomas Weber. “The entire organization has to be trained on the issue of high-voltage power.”<\/p>\n
Though competitors are getting ready to roll out electric models ahead of Daimler, Weber says that they underestimate the time required to fully train and develop a competent service network for the electric technology.<\/p>\n
