Department spokesman Brian Steele says the sign, which was put up late last year, is part of what he calls a Michigan Avenue &#8220;streetscape project.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\nBoth the Metropole and the Lexington have been replaced by condos, but both were regarded as architecturally significant.
