{"id":332286,"date":"2010-02-17T18:04:47","date_gmt":"2010-02-17T23:04:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dirt.asla.org\/?p=3887"},"modified":"2010-02-17T18:04:47","modified_gmt":"2010-02-17T23:04:47","slug":"field-operations-will-design-atlanta%e2%80%99s-22-mile-beltline","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/332286","title":{"rendered":"Field Operations Will Design Atlanta\u2019s 22-mile Beltline"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/aslathedirt.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/02\/beltline.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3888\" title=\"beltline\" src=\"http:\/\/aslathedirt.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/02\/beltline.jpg?w=300&#038;h=360\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"360\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.fieldoperations.net\/\" >James Corner Field Operations<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.perkinswill.com\/\" >Perkins+Will<\/a> have been selected as the lead designers of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.beltline.org\/\" >Atlanta Beltline<\/a>, a 22-mile\u00a0green beltway of park networks, multi-use trails and light rail, which will also reuse and revitalize old rail tracks and restore local ecosystems.\u00a0 According to the <a href=\"http:\/\/freshkillspark.wordpress.com\/\" >FreshKills Park Blog<\/a>, the $2.8 billion green infrastructure project will connect over 1,200 acres of parkland,\u00a0restore multiple brownfields, construct 5,600 affordable housing units, and create 30,000 new full-time jobs over a 25-year period.\u00a0Over 100,000 people live within a half-mile of the Beltline, which connects 45 of Atlanta&#8217;s\u00a0neighborhoods.<\/p>\n<p>Brian Leary, President &amp; CEO of Atlanta BeltLine, Inc., told the <em>Atlanta Examiner<\/em>, &#8220;by creating a design which will integrate all of the BeltLine\u2019s components in a comprehensive way we are building the BeltLine\u2019s foundation.&#8221; Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed\u00a0added that the selection of the\u00a0design team\u00a0was \u201ca great step forward,&#8221; and &#8220;the eyes of the nation are on Atlanta\u2019s Beltline as a model for smart growth and urban redevelopment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>James Corner Field Operations and Perkins + Will won a\u00a0competitive bidding process.
