{"id":332567,"date":"2010-02-17T18:48:38","date_gmt":"2010-02-17T23:48:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.szone.us\/f80\/partnership-nixle-39565\/"},"modified":"2010-02-17T18:48:38","modified_gmt":"2010-02-17T23:48:38","slug":"partnership-with-nixle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/332567","title":{"rendered":"Partnership with Nixle"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>02.17.10 02:06 PM<br \/>\nOn February 17, 2010 The Los Angeles Police Department along with representatives from Nixle held a press conference to introduce the system to the City.<\/p>\n<p> <a href=\"http:\/\/lapdblog.typepad.com\/.a\/6a00d8341c5fcf53ef0120a8ae1c59970b-pi\" ><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/lapdblog.typepad.com\/.a\/6a00d8341c5fcf53ef0120a8ae1c59970b-120wi\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a> Nixle is the first professional-grade mass communications platform which allows the police department to communicate directly with a geographically specific portion of the community in real time and at any time.&#0160; <\/p>\n<p> With Nixle, the Police Department can establish &quot;short codes&quot; to communicate with specific groups.&#0160; These &quot;short code&quot; protocols have been tested in both First Amendment Protests and Search and Rescue situations.&#0160; A group of protesters or a group of volunteer searchers can text a specially created short code for their event and instantaneously, they are all in connected to the Incident Command Post.&#0160; Messages from the Command Post can be used to debunk rumors or to keep everyone informed on public safety issues.&#0160;&#0160;&#0160;&#0160;&#0160;&#0160;&#0160;&#0160; <\/p>\n<p> In late 2009, in a public and private partnership, the communities from across the City enrolled in this free public-safety communications platform. The communities served by Topanga, Wilshire and West Valley Areas recorded more Nixle subscribers than any of the other Areas Citywide.&#0160; <a href=\"http:\/\/lapdblog.typepad.com\/.a\/6a00d8341c5fcf53ef012877b0dcf2970c-pi\" ><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/lapdblog.typepad.com\/.a\/6a00d8341c5fcf53ef012877b0dcf2970c-120wi\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a> <\/p>\n<p> Nixle awarded grant monies to the top three communities (Topanga Area &#8211; $5000, Wilshire Area &#8211; $3000 and West Valley Areas $2000).&#0160; Nixle\u0092s goal in awarding these grants is to help increase the user base and thereby help increase the likelihood that Nixle can actually help solve a crime or find a missing child.&#0160; The only stipulation on the use of the money is that it to be used to further excellence in policing, including employee wellness.&#0160; <\/p>\n<p> In accepting the funds, the Department is under no obligation of any kind to Nixle.&#0160; Chief Beck said, &quot;Employee wellness is on my list of goals for 2010, and especially in these uncertain budgetary times, I am sure that the Nixle awards will be put to good use.&quot;&#0160; Nixle is a service that is free to the community.&#0160; <\/p>\n<p> <a href=\"http:\/\/lapdblog.typepad.com\/files\/nixle-2.mp3\" >Download Nixle<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/lapdblog.typepad.com\/lapd_blog\/2010\/02\/partnership-with-nixle.html\" >LAPD News and Information &#8230;<\/a><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>02.17.10 02:06 PM On February 17, 2010 The Los Angeles Police Department along with representatives from Nixle held a press conference to introduce the system to the City.
