Allen will travel to the impoverished island as part of the United Nations&#8217; campaign to raise awareness and funds for Haitian earthquake relief.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.popcrunch.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/05\/kris-allen-welcomed-in-little-rock-500x789.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"kris-allen-welcomed-in-little-rock\" width=\"500\" height=\"789\" class=\"alignright size-large wp-image-55556\" \/><\/p>\n<p>As part of the how\u2019s \u201cIdol Gives Back\u201d charity effort, Kris will travel to disaster zone on Feb. 19 to  learn how people are recovering from the earthquake and find out what they will need in the months to come. He\u2019ll share video from his visit and sing on next Thursday&#8217;s episode of <em>Idol<\/em>. <\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-93643\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The United Nations has been working to help survivors of the Jan. 12 earthquake recover by delivering food, water, and protection against diseases such as measles and malaria.<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;I&#8217;m looking forward to traveling to Haiti to see the UN&#8217;s work firsthand,&#8221; <\/em>says <em>Idol&#8217;s<\/em> Season 8 winner. <em>&#8220;The people of Haiti are rebuilding their country, and the UN is there to help them every step of the way.
