{"id":336576,"date":"2010-02-18T17:59:23","date_gmt":"2010-02-18T22:59:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/chicagopressrelease.com\/press-releases\/appeals-court-stays-infomercial-pitchmans-jailing"},"modified":"2010-02-18T17:59:23","modified_gmt":"2010-02-18T22:59:23","slug":"appeals-court-stays-infomercial-pitchman%e2%80%99s-jailing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/336576","title":{"rendered":"Appeals court stays infomercial pitchman\u2019s jailing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><p>An appeals court has issued a last-minute order staying an author and infomercial pitchman&#8217;s 30-day jail sentence for unleashing a flood of e-mails that locked up a federal judge&#8217;s computer and his BlackBerry.<\/p>\n<p>Author Kevin Trudeau says he learned of the stay 25 minutes before the hearing at which he had been expecting to be jailed.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. District Judge Robert W. <span id=\"more-20078\"><\/span>Gettleman, who is presiding over a legal battle between the Federal Trade Commission and Trudeau, last week found the infomercial king in criminal contempt after he urged his supporters to deluge Gettleman with e-mails decrying the federal case.
