Last week, Toyota’s CEO Akio Toyoda said that\u00a0he will not appear before U.S. lawmakers at hearings<\/a> scheduled for the end of this month. However, he said he would consider appearing before Congress if he was invited. Earlier this morning, Rep. Ed Towns (D-New York), chairman of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, sent Toyoda an official invitation<\/a>.<\/p>\n

According to a statement from Toyoda, he has accepted Town’s offer.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have received Congressman Towns\u2019 invitation to testify before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform on February 24 and I accept,” Toyoda said. “I look forward to speaking directly with Congress and the American people.\u201d<\/p>\n
