{"id":338107,"date":"2010-02-18T19:30:33","date_gmt":"2010-02-19T00:30:33","guid":{"rendered":"tag:consumerist.com,2010:\/\/1.10002313"},"modified":"2010-02-18T19:33:02","modified_gmt":"2010-02-19T00:33:02","slug":"toyota-boss-accepts-invite-from-congress-unsure-of-what-to-wear","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/338107","title":{"rendered":"Toyota Boss Accepts Invite From Congress, Unsure Of What To Wear"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/consumerist.com\/assets_c\/2010\/02\/AAAAAAkio4666751-lg-thumb-250x305-37179.jpg\">         <\/p>\n<p>Setting up what is sure to be a thrilling showdown like something out of a <i>Highlander<\/i> movie, Toyota&#8217;s President and CEO Akio Toyoda has decided to accept Congressman Ed Towns&#8217; <a href=\"http:\/\/consumerist.com\/2010\/02\/in-the-weeks-since-it.html\" >formal invitation<\/a> to appear before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are pleased Mr. Toyoda accepted the invitation to testify before the Committee,&#8221; Towns and the Committee&#8217;s Ranking GOP Member Darrell Issa said in a statement. &#8220;We believe his testimony will be helpful in understanding the actions Toyota is taking to ensure the safety of American drivers.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Until yesterday, Toyoda had been <a href=\"http:\/\/consumerist.com\/2010\/02\/toyota-boss-slams-brakes-on-speaking-to-congress.html\" >passing the appearing-before-Congress buck<\/a> to the head of Toyota&#8217;s North American operations.
