\"\"<\/a>Plaxico Burress, the lithe, talented New York Giants wide receiver who caught the game-winning touchdown pass in Super Bowl XLII in 2007 and then signed a $35 million, five-year deal with the Giants in 2008, was riding on top of the world. He had talent and a huge contract and a bright future. And then he shot himself in his own foot — literally.<\/p>\n

In late November, Burress went to a Manhattan nightclub and had an unregistered gun tucked into his waistband. The gun slipped down his leg and went off, shooting himself in his right thigh and narrowly missing a security guard who was standing inches away. As a result, the Giants dropped Burress and the NFL suspended the receiver until he completes his prison term.\u00a0 Burress was tried and sentenced to two years in prison<\/a> and could be eligible for early release in 2011.<\/p>\n

Now, Burress faces another loss: the loss of his home. According to the NY Post, Burress was slapped with a foreclosure notice on his Florida estate on Jan. 26<\/a> (see the Broward County court records)<\/a>. Burress reportedly owes more than $250,000 to creditors and thus, Burress gets added to the list of celebrity foreclosures<\/a>.<\/p>\n

According to public records, Burress and his wife bought the home for $4 million in 2005<\/a>, but the home’s Zestimate value has slid to just below $2 million<\/a> due to the rough real estate market, which is no surprise since more than 35% of Lighthouse Point homes have sold for a loss<\/a>.<\/p>\n
