{"id":339347,"date":"2010-02-19T10:45:49","date_gmt":"2010-02-19T15:45:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/greenenergyreporter.com\/?p=6448"},"modified":"2010-02-19T10:45:49","modified_gmt":"2010-02-19T15:45:49","slug":"horizon-wind-energy-signs-ppa-with-tennessee-valley-authority","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/339347","title":{"rendered":"Horizon Wind Energy Signs PPA with Tennessee Valley Authority"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.greenenergyreporter.com\/wp-content\/themes\/v1\/img\/cat\/wind.png\" width=\"8\" height=\"8\" alt=\"\" title=\"Wind\" \/><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/greenenergyreporter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/wind.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-5776\" title=\"wind\" src=\"http:\/\/greenenergyreporter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/wind-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>Horizon Wind Energy, the U.S. wind power unit of Portugal\u2019s EDP Renewables, has signed a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) for the output of its 115-megawatt Pioneer Prairie Wind Farm in Iowa&#8217;s Mitchell and Howard Counties.<span id=\"more-6448\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The electricity generated from the Pioneer Prairie farm will be piped from the Midwest to TVA\u2019s service area across the U.S. Southeast.<\/p>\n<p>TVA has been growing its renewable energy capacity.<a href=\"http:\/\/greenenergyreporter.com\/2010\/01\/tva-signs-contract-with-iberdrola-for-300-mw-of-wind-power\/\" > In December it signed a long-term PPA <\/a>with the North American unit of Spanish power company Iberdrola to buy 300 megawatts of wind powered electricity from Iberdrola\u2019s Cayuga Ridge project in Illinois. Last fall it <a href=\"http:\/\/greenenergyreporter.com\/2009\/10\/stimulus-money-at-work-tva-signs-contract-for-450-mw-of-wind-power\/\" >signed a PPA with CPV Renewable Energy Company<\/a>, an affiliate of Competitive Power Ventures, for 200 megawatts generated by the developer&#8217;s Ashley Wind Project in McIntosh County, N.D.  It also signed a long-term PPA with Chicago-based Invenergy to buy 250 megawatts generated by the Chicago-based developer&#8217;s Hurricane Lake Energy Center in Roberts County, S.D.<\/p>\n<p>TVA plans to add 2,000 megawatts of renewable energy to its generation portfolio.<\/p>\n<p>For the Prairie Wind project, earlier Horizon Wind <a href=\"http:\/\/www.edprenovaveis.com\/en\/index.asp?MP=86&amp;MS=338&amp;MN=2&amp;id=143\" >secured a long term PPA<\/a> with Saint Louis power utility Ameren for about 100 megawatts to be generated once the project is fully developed and generates 300 megawatts of electricity.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/feeds.feedburner.com\/~r\/GreenEnergyReporter\/~4\/Tks2A8w4Qjk\" height=\"1\" width=\"1\"\/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Horizon Wind Energy, the U.S. wind power unit of Portugal\u2019s EDP Renewables, has signed a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) for the output of its 115-megawatt Pioneer Prairie Wind Farm in Iowa&#8217;s Mitchell and Howard Counties.
