Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.) has been diagnosed with stomach cancer and will begin chemotherapy today.<\/p>\n<p>The 86-year-old is the second-oldest sitting U.S. senator &#8212; behind the ailing Sen. Robert Byrd (D-W.Va.) &#8212; and was first elected to the Senate in 1982.<span id=\"more-77092\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>From <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nj.com\/news\/index.ssf\/2010\/02\/us_sen_frank_lautenberg_is_dia.html\">The Star-Ledger<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The Democrat still plans to finish out his current term \u2013 his fifth in the Senate \u2013 and seek re-election in 2014.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis doesn\u2019t change any of that,\u201d Lautenberg\u2019s chief aide, Dan Katz, said of the senator\u2019s political plans. \u201cAfter he receives his treatment, back to normal.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sad news: Sen.
