CHICAGO (WBBM\/CBS\/STMW) –<\/strong> It’s a sloppy, snowy day in Chicago. You’ll need good boots and extra time today to get where you’re going.<\/p>\n

\nThe good news is the WBBM AccuWeather forecast calls for snow ending early this morning with little additional accumulation. <\/p>\n

\nA winter weather advisory remains in effect until noon for Cook, DuPage, Grundy, Kankakee and Will counties, according to the National Weather Service’s Web site. <\/span>A more severe winter storm warning remains in effect until noon for DeKalb, Lake and McHenry counties.<\/p>\n

\n“Current weather conditions have been working to our advantage so far,” Chicago Streets and Sanitation Commissioner Thomas Byrne said Sunday night as he briefed reporters on the city’s cleanup efforts.<\/p>\n

\nThe department revved up 175 snow-fighting trucks at 7 p.m. Sunday to keep up with the impending snow storm on Chicago’s main streets and Lake Shore Drive. The city also says it is prepared for the worst, including the possibility of the previously forecasted inch-per-hour of snow.<\/p>\n

\nThe heavy, wet nature of the snow may result in falling tree branches and possible power outages, and will be difficult to shovel, the weather service said.<\/p>\n

\nAir travel is also likely to be affected, although the city’s Department of Aviation reported no such delays Monday morning.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
