A home invasion robbery over the weekend at a
\nWoodland Hills house used by a rap record label offers a window into a way record executives house their artists. <\/p>\n

According to a veteran music publicist who declined
\nto be identified, urban music labels have a long-implemented policy of
\nrenting out condominiums or houses for visiting rappers and singers. <\/p>\n

Such costs are typically covered by an artist\u2019s
\nrecording budget in
\nan effort to avoid paying sky-high hotel premiums.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you have someone stay at a hotel for a week, it\u2019s
\nthree grand,\u201d the publicist said. \u201cYou save a lot of money if you rent
\nout a house and have everyone — the producers and the artists — stay
\nthere. It makes total sense."<\/p>\n

In this case, officials said the Woodland Hills home targeted by the robbers was a temporary
\nresidence for visiting recording artists.<\/p>\n

Law enforcement sources familiar with the
\ninvestigation told The Times that there had been numerous calls from neighbors for
\ncomplaints including loud noise and parking violations. The sources spoke on the condition that they not be named because it was an ongoing investigation.<\/p>\n

Officers went to the home in the 22100 block of Mulholland Drive<\/a>
\nabout 1 a.m. Sunday after a report that two men and two women broke
\ninto the home during what was described as a "party or gathering." <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

According to police, two\u00a0suspects pulled out weapons and
\npistol-whipped some of the guests. The suspects fled after stealing\u00a0an
\nunspecified amount of money and jewelry. <\/p>\n

More than a dozen people were victims of\u00a0and\/or witnessed the crime,
\nbut police said they were uncooperative. Police did not immediately
\nidentify the rap label that owns the home.<\/p>\n

Police are still searching for the robbers.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
