Names being floated include:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<div class='wbq'>\n<p>American University law school professor Dan Marcus, a former Justice Department official and White House lawyer who also worked on the 9\/11 Commission. But others, especially Acting Deputy AG Gary Grindler, Associate AG Tom Perrelli and Assistant AG for National Security David Kris, are still in the mix.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>You know, in recent articles about Attorney General Holder&#8217;s first year, he <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2010\/02\/15\/us\/politics\/15holder.html\">has been dinged<\/a> for a lack of national security and foreign counter intelligence experience. One remedy would be to make David Kris DAG.<\/p>\n<p>Kris, currently the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.justice.gov\/nsd\/bio.htm\">Assistant Attorney General for National Security<\/a>, is the co-author of <em>National Security Investigation and Prosecution<\/em>, \u00a9Thompson West 2007 and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.whorunsgov.com\/Profiles\/David_S._Kris\">has forgotten more<\/a> about this area of law than the rest of us will cumulatively know in a lifetime.<\/p>\n<p>A couple years ago, I him invited to speak to an organization of retired Law Enforcement types; he has the speaking ability, judgment and tact necessary to communicate and \u201csell\u201d a policy proposal to Beltway insiders and the general public.<\/p>\n<p>Holder will need someone with Kris\u2019s chops since he appears to have become the Administration\u2019s pi\u00f1ata du jour, what with Janet Napalitano <a href=\"http:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/stories\/0210\/33433.html\">throwing<\/a> Holder under the bus.<\/p>\n<p class=\"akst_link\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/firedoglake.com\/wp-content\/plugins\/share-this\/share-icon-16x16.gif\" alt=\"Share This icon\" \/><a href=\"http:\/\/firedoglake.com\/?p=68984&amp;akst_action=share-this\"  title=\"Email, post to del.icio.us, etc.\" id=\"akst_link_68984\" class=\"akst_share_link\" rel=\"noindex nofollow\">&nbsp;<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Now that David Ogden is leaving as U.S. Deputy Attorney General, the speculation about his replacement has already begun.
