CHICAGO (STMW) –<\/strong> A man filed a lawsuit Wednesday against the Cook County Sheriff and a deputy he claims falsely arrested him and left his \u201cyoung\u201d son in a vehicle on a busy south suburban interstate.<\/p>\n

\nOn Sept. <\/span>13, 2009, Cook County Sheriff\u2019s Deputy D. Woods stopped a vehicle driving by Daryl Morgan on Interstate 57 at 167th Street near Oak Forest, according to a suit filed in U.S. District Court.<\/p>\n

\nThe suit claims Morgan was arrested and his \u201cyoung\u201d son was left at the scene of the arrest.<\/p>\n

\nMorgan was released from the Cook County Jail \u201cmore than two days\u201d after the arrest and criminal charges were dropped, according to the suit.<\/p>\n

\nMorgan claims the deputy had no reason to arrest him, and there was not a warrant for his arrest. The four-count suit claims false arrest, false imprisonment, malicious prosecution and indemnification and is seeking judgment against Woods and Cook County Sheriff Thomas Dart.<\/p>\n

\nCook County Sheriff\u2019s office spokesman Steve Patterson said Morgan has never filed a complaint with the sheriff\u2019s office or any other authorities. He laughed at the idea of anyone leaving a child behind on an interstate and forwarded any other questions to the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, who could not reached Thursday morning.<\/p>\n

\n\u201cPolice officers don\u2019t generally leave kids on the side of the road,\u201d Patterson said.<\/p>\n\n
