{"id":365669,"date":"2010-02-26T09:39:46","date_gmt":"2010-02-26T14:39:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/chicagopressrelease.com\/press-releases\/jury-awards-family-of-woman-who-died-in-custody"},"modified":"2010-02-26T09:39:46","modified_gmt":"2010-02-26T14:39:46","slug":"jury-awards-family-of-woman-who-died-in-custody","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/365669","title":{"rendered":"Jury awards family of woman who died in custody"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>CHICAGO (AP)<\/strong> &#8211; A federal jury in Chicago has awarded $5 million to the family of a 46-year-old woman who died in Chicago police custody after complaining of heart problems.<\/p>\n<p>\nThe U.S. <span id=\"more-21400\"><\/span>District Court jury found Thursday against four police officers and a citizen&#8217;s aide accused of ignoring Patricia Cobige&#8217;s pleas for pain treatment for a heart condition while she was being held in a police station in 2006.<\/p>\n<p>\nAn attorney for the Cobige family said Cobige died because officers didn&#8217;t give her two aspirin.<\/p>\n<p>\nBut a spokeswoman for Chicago&#8217;s Law Department said that notion was an unreasonable assertion.
